ALBERTO SALVI [harpist]. Venice, 1893-Lake Zurich, IL, 1983. He began playing the harp in his father’s piano and harpmaking shop in Venice when he was five. The family moved to the U.S. and after further studies in Italy, Alberto following the family to Chicago in 1913. In these early years he played on occasion with the Chicago Opera including for the debut of Amelita Galli-Curci in Lucia in 1916. In later years he worked on the NBC staff in orchestras for the Firestone and Bell Telephone programs, among others. He then taught at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. His New York solo debut was in 1920 in Aeolian Hall
